Wound management is indeed a public concern in healthcare. The average product marketed in the market is sold at a high price and requires high maintenance depending on many factors such as poor absorption rate, low level of solubility in water thus preventing the effectiveness of a product to be absorbed in the skin area that suffers from wounds.

Understanding the need to produce effective, effective wound therapy products at affordable prices for households to have, UPM researchers have developed MIITRAFix using the Response Surface Methodology (RSM) technique.

Using the composition of the main ingredient of ketum leaves that are easily available in Malaysia and the Asian region, ketum leaves offer affordable prices compared to synthetic drugs. In addition, another advantage of this product is that it uses a simple extraction process and saves money and energy making it suitable for large-scale operations.

Innovations developed using grants from MOSTI have also received full support from the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH).

The ketum leaf extract acts as a wound healing mediator because it contains good antioxidants, is non-toxic and anti-microbial in nature. With all the benefits and benefits offered, this innovation is indeed a fugitive for the pharmaceutical industry's use for skincare and hospitals or clinics to specialise in alternative medicine treatments in the care of patients with acute and chronic wounds of all ages.
